Biology and Theory: RNA and the Origin of Life

  • Chapter
The Chemistry of Life’s Origins

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASIC,volume 416))

Abstract

Most current thinking concerning the origin of life has become rooted in a theory which is referred to as the “RNA World”. The origins and consequences of the theory will be explained and recent research concerning the possible origins of the first RNA molecules will be reviewed.
