Abstract

Dismembered ophiolite complexes in central Newfoundland, form part of an ophiolite-lined fault zone that has a roughly elliptical outcrop. The ellipse has a northeast trending long axis of 55 km and a short axis of 20 km. A complete ophiolite stratigraphy has been demonstrated in the Coy Pond and Pipestone Pond Complexes, which have steep dips and face east and west respectively, outwards from the centre of the ellipse.
