Zusammenfassung

Unter Enzephalitis versteht man eine Entzündung des Hirnparenchyms und unter Meningitis eine Entzündung der Hirnhäute. Erstere kann direkt erregerbedingt oder infektionsassoziiert sein oder eine nicht erregerbedingte Ätiologie haben. Dieser Abschnitt behandelt die viral bedingten Enzephalitiden und die wichtigsten nichtinfektiösen Ursachen sowie die viralen Meningitiden.
