Abstract

Before presenting the parameter estimates of the three species Barents Sea (TSB) model, we shall briefly describe some of the problems of parameter estimation in single species models. Almost all population analysis of North Atlantic fish stocks have been carried out on the basis of Beverton-Holt types of models (Beverton and Holt, 1957). The use of aggregated biomass models to assess North Atlantic stocks is almost non-existent in the literature. However, it is possible to estimate parameters in the latter types of models from parameters in the former types of models.
