Zusammenfassung

Unbestreitbar ist seit Einführung der endotrachealen Intubation in die anästhesiologische Routine der Grad an Sicherheit, mit dem sich heute Patienten Narkose und Operation unterziehen können, erheblich gewachsen. Ebenso klar ist, daß die Intubation als Methode nicht völlig frei von eigenen Risiken ist. Diese sind zwar selten, können aber das Leben des Patienten akut gefährden.
