Zusammenfassung

Unter dem Begriff chronische Hepatitis wird ein ätiologisch heterogenes Krankheitsbild zusammengefaßt, bei dem es zu einem chronisch entzündlichen Prozeß in der Leber kommt. Molekularbiologische und immunologische Methoden haben in den letzten Jahrzehnten zur verfeinerten Differenzierung der chronischen Lebererkrankungen beigetragen. Die Mehrzahl der chronischen Hepatitiden kann durch serologische und molekularbiologische Untersuchungen unterschieden werden. Wichtig i0st die frühzeitige Diagnose und Therapie, um das Risiko von Spätkomplikationen, wie etwa die Entstehung einer Leberzirrhose oder eines hepatozellulären Karzinoms, zu vermeiden.
