Abstract
Decadal variability in SST has the largest signals in the extra-tropical regions of deep and intermediate water formation of the North-Atlantic ocean: the Greenland Sea, the Labrador Sea and the area close to Bermuda (Deser and Blackmon 1993, Kushnir 1994). Unstable air/sea interactions might well occur in this area, potentially affecting climate variability on various time-scales.
