Abstract

Parastomal hernias are common. Large or symptomatic hernias merit repair. A number of repair techniques have been described; unfortunately traditional recurrence rates have been high. The prospective comparative data to date have been insufficient to demonstrate the superiority of the type of mesh or method of repair.
