Hall Island – is an island in the southern part of Franz Josef Land and is washed by the waters of the Barents Sea. H.I. was discovered in 1874 by the Austro-Hungarian North Pole Expedition (1872–1874) conducted on the Tegethoff steamship and headed by Karl Weyprecht and Julius von Payer. H.I. was named after American Arctic explorer Charles Francis Hall (1821–1871).
