Varandey Island – situated to the east of the Pechora Bay and is separated from the continent by a narrow and shallow channel. It is part of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Russia. It is ca. 9 km long and around 2 km wide. The coasts are low and sandy. The western and northwestern parts of the island are lifted. There is a settlement New Varandey built on an island for 3,500 people, a tank farm, and an airport.
