Abstract
This chapter discusses how to reduce the chance of a missed appointment (no-show) and how to re-engage patients who fail to show up. Since waiting is one of the most common causes of patient dissatisfaction, we discuss ways to ensure that patients are available when they are needed, but are not made to wait excessively. It also describes important steps that can be taken to keep patients informed about what to expect, and how to deal with unexpected arrivals. It concludes with a brief discussion of service recovery for those times when delays are unavoidable.

We never use social security numbers for identification. The risk of a data breach makes this an unattractive practice.
