Abstract
Regarding voice rest, 48 h is recommended after injection augmentation or type I thyroplasty. Passive drains are generally placed after type I thyroplasty.
Antibiotics are used after open thyroplasty and after direct laryngoscopy with injection (i.e., not after percutaneous injection).
Overnight observation is offered for many patients undergoing open surgery; patients are seen around 1 week postoperative for suture removal and wound care.
Overall, this chapter aims to provide guiding principles for postoperative decision-making based on years of experience.
