Abstract
Computer hardware responds to a repertoire of elementary instructions, its machine code. We have seen the nature of low-level programming in chapter 6—it is cumbersome, highly prone to undetected errors and unfriendly in appearance. High-level programming, on the other hand, provides the user with a somewhat more friendly mode of communication.
