1. On a flowchart, placing a line across the upper part of a symbol on the flowchart to indicate that a detailed description of what the symbol represents is given elsewhere in the document that contains the flowchart. 2. In a set of flowcharts, the use of a line across the upper part of a flowchart symbol to indicate that a detailed representation or description of that which is indicated by the symbol is located elsewhere in the set of flowcharts.
