Summary
Tine structural observations were made on the spinal cord of cats chronically treated with aluminum hydroxide. Besides the massive neurofibrillary degeneration of the neuronal perikarya and cell processes, a marked gliosis was observed. In addition, some glial cells exhibited conspicuous intranuclear fibrillary aggregates and different intranuclear bodies. Alteration of the intracellular fibrous protein metabolism is tentatively proposed to interpret the relationship between neurofibrillary degeneration and gliofibrillary accumulation.
