An investigation was made of the behavior of benzylvinylsilanes of general formula CH2 = CHSi(R2)CH2 \(\begin{array}{*{20}c} / \hfill & { - - - - } \hfill & \backslash \hfill \\ {\backslash \backslash } \hfill & { - - } \hfill & {//} \hfill \\ \end{array} \), (R = CH3, C2H5, Cl) in presence of various alkylation catalysts.

In presence of aluminum chloride benzyldimethylvinylsilane and benzyldichlorovinylsilane in benzene solution undergo cyclization by intramolecular alkylation.

In absence of solvent benzylvinylsilanes react in presence of aluminum chloride with formation of condensation products containing bicyclic groups.
