Abstract
PSORIASIS (Figures 6.1–6.12) is a common chronic genetically determined condition of unknown cause, and it is seen frequently in children. However, onset before the age of 5 years is unusual and before the age of 2 is rare. In children the most common type is guttate (small spot) psoriasis which appears abruptly, often after a streptococcal tonsillitis or other infection. The small papular lesions have overlying silvery scales. The eruption persists for up to 3 months and resolves spontaneously. However, it is usual for psoriasis to recur within the following 5 years.
