Abstract
Following the lead of F. Baclesse and his successors at the Curie Institute in Paris, and of other pioneers in Europe and North America, we have used curative radiation therapy in the treatment of 4,160 consecutive operable breast cancers since 1960, with the goal of controlling local-regional disease and avoiding mastectomy.
