Abstract
Lesions of the vagus nerve have devastating effects on the vital functions of coughing, swallowing, and phonation. Therefore, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are important to the otolaryngologist as to the neurosurgeon. As in other central nervous system disorders, the anatomic defects can be divided into supranuclear, nuclear, and peripheral vagal lesions. The aim of the present paper is to demonstrate the consequences of nuclear and peripheral vagal lesions.
