Abstract

The acute abdomen refers to an acute abdominal pain with an unclear etiology of less than 24-h duration. It is a common emergent symptom in daily urology, and it can be caused by a wide variety of intra- and extra-abdominal organ malfunctions. Therefore, a detailed history, structured complain, and pain assessment as well as a systematic clinical examination are mandatory prior to further investigations.
