Malignant tumors of the adrenal glands

Abstract

The contribution of CT and MRI is particularly important for adrenal tumors, notably CT (fig. 31.1) in the assessment of cancer spread, and MRI which is able to avoid more invasive techniques such as percutaneous biopsy and phlebography. Since the advent of these techniques, a new entity has arisen, namely the incidental detection of apparently non-secreting adrenal masses which require clinical and endocrinological investigation to help determine the histological diagnosis and treatment approach.
