Abstract
Bombax ceiba Linn is historically, psycho-spiritually, commercially, ecologically and medicinally important plant species. Phytochemically it is enriched with flavonoids, phenolics and sesquiterpenoids. Fragmented research work has been done in various parts of the world to validate its ethno-medicinal properties and the results are outstanding. However, it still needs detailed exploration of its beneficial biological potential against hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia and atherosclerosis.
