A Fault Model Centered Modeling Framework for Self-healing Computing Systems

Abstract

As the computing systems become more and more complex, new technology and approach are desired to construct the system, so as to make them more reliable or self-healable. A modeling framework to generating self-healing system is proposed in this paper. The model framework consists of function model, fault model, self-healing model, model composition mechanism for integration of the function model and the self-healing model, as well as a code generation platform that supports automated generation of self-healing enabled software systems. The framework has the advantages of the following aspects: 1) The functional components of target system and the self-healing components for the target system can be modeled respectively under the framework; 2) The functional models and the self-healing models can be coupled through fault model; 3) The self-healability of the target system can be analyzed at he model level; 4) The modeling framework is platform-independent.
