How to set up an Acute Stroke Service

Abstract

“Stroke” is a sudden loss of brain function caused by disruption of the blood flow to the brain. This can happen due to an occluded blood vessel (acute ischemic stroke) or rupture of a blood vessel (hemorrhagic stroke), which causes a bleed (Fig. 1.1).
