Abstract

Trauma to the neck is most often due to penetrating injuries. These can be present in isolation – e.g. stab wounds or as part of multi-trauma with projectiles causing penetrating injuries as in motor vehicular accidents or explosions. Blunt trauma to the neck is rare, and this chapter will therefore focus on the management of penetrating neck injuries.
