Abstract

A 25-year-old woman presents for evaluation of excess sweating of her armpits. She notes that for the past 3 years, she has been experiencing a chronic underarm dampness that is not well-controlled by any over-the-counter antiperspirant (she states that she has “tried them all”). She describes her problem as sweaty but not malodorous. She states that she often has to change her blouse in the middle of the day. She is frequently embarrassed in public situations and has been increasingly avoiding friends and even loved ones, which subsequently makes her feel anxious and depressed. She denies any other symptoms including fevers, weight loss, palpitations, headaches, or tremors. Her past medical history is negative and she denies any medications or allergies. She takes a daily multivitamin but denies any other vitamins or supplements. Her menses are monthly and normal.
