Abstract

In previous chapters we have discussed the use of screening to detect patients who may have bipolar disorder. Once such high-risk patients are identified, it is necessary to confirm the diagnosis using recognized international diagnostic criteria (DSM-IV-R [1]or International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Health-Related Problems, 10th revision [ICD-10][2]).
