I love to read history. I especially love to read about great people from all walks of life, political leaders, scientists, intellectuals and military leaders. Since there are really not many truly new and original ideas, you can learn a great deal from studying people who have been successful and what made them successful. To quote Niccolo Machiavelli in The Prince, “For exercising the mind, the prince (the leader) must read histories and in them consider the actions of the imminent men, see how they conduct themselves, examine the reason for their victories and defeats, in order to avoid the latter and imitate the former”.
