Abstract

A variety of abnormal findings can be identified on fluoroscopic evaluation of the oral cavity and pharynx. These first chambers of the aerodigestive tract are responsible for bolus preparation, formation, and containment as well as bolus propulsion, airway protection, and initial events of pharyngoesophageal segment (PES) opening (Chap. 4). The purpose of this chapter is to provide a thorough description of abnormal oral and pharyngeal phase fluoroscopic findings.
