Abstract
A passive solar, earth sheltered home must be designed with many factors other than energy conservation in mind. If aesthetic and family needs are ignored, the house, although efficient, will prove less enjoyable and fulfilling. Moreover, local building codes must be met, and the design implications for a concrete structure are different from a wood-frame house.
