Abstract

It’s easy enough to examine the principles of current science and assume it was always obvious to theorists that their work was vital to a greater whole, but this is not the case. A look at the work done by generations of hydrodynamic theorists shows how the labor of each added to the science of the day, ultimately leading to scale model testing in the basins of Froude and Taylor.
