Abstract
Basically, expediting in transportation is a method to speed shipments so that they arrive in time to meet the need for production or sale. As a transportation technique, it seems to have developed during World War I when there was a need to increase the speed of cars carrying essential war materiel and food as they moved through congested rail yards.
