Abstract

Since its earliest description by Virchow,1 leukemic involvement of the heart has been reported increasingly. This trend is likely to represent a heightened awareness of such an entity, major advancements in diagnostic cardiology, and improved longevity of patients with acute leukemias as a result of the progress in antileukemic chemotherapy and the supportive care by blood products transfusion or antimicrobial agents with broad spectra of activities.
