Abstract
Amaurosis infers blindness occurring without an apparent lesion of the eye, an extraocular cause, if you will. The term amaurosis fugax has come to be associated with vascular disease, but it could just as well apply to the visual phenomena that accompany migraine. Hence, a discussion of migrainous visual auras and their possible pathogenesis is appropriate here.
