Abstract

Fuel cells, aimed for energy production and vehicle propulsion, have attracted much interest in the last decade. The reasons are many: The prospects for high efficiency, low emissions, low noise, scalability, reliability and finally potentially low cost. However, the attractiveness of fuel cells is predominantly their high system efficiency and co-generation networking capabilities even for small capacities and also at part load operation. The solid oxide fuel cell type offers the most interesting combination of these advantages.
