This chapter:

  • introduces the concept of a form and that of a control

  • demonstrates the usefulness of Visual Studio’s Designer for editing the layout and setting the properties of forms and their controls

  • introduces the concept of an event, and gives and overview the publisher-subscriber event model used by C#

  • explains what a delegate type is and how it is defined

  • explains how an event field is defined and what purpose the event field serves

  • demonstrates the use of elementary controls such as buttons and labels

  • introduces mouse events to which controls cen respond

  • introduces the concept of a modal dialog box
