Sustainability analysis on theoretical perspectives and tools for policy-makers: data, indicators, and models

This special issue includes a selection of papers presented at the: “First International Conference on Sustainability Analysis on theoretical perspectives and tools for policy-makers,” (ICSA 2022), organised by the DIAS - Data, Indicators and Analysis for Sustainability group of SIS - Italian Statistical Society and the Department of Social Sciences and Economics of “La Sapienza” University of Rome, July, 14th -15th 2022. The Conference has been organized to offer an overview of theoretical perspectives and tools for policy-makers, focusing on data, indicators, methods, and models used in various contexts of empirical application of Sustainability concept.

The special issue devotes specific attention to analysis, policies, and contributions supporting sustainable development across and within different territorial areas focusing on methodological issues related to the measurement of social inclusion and cohesion and well-being of the population.

This special issue provides a comprehensive set of tools for academics, researchers, and policy-makers in the applied statistical research. It consists of a collection of contributions on cutting-edge research questions related to the measurement of social cohesion and sustainability correlated to measures of well-being and quality of life at different territorial levels.

Editors

  • Leonardo Salvatore Alaimo

    Leonardo Salvatore Alaimo is Research Fellow of Social Statistics (SECS-S/05) at the Department of Social Sciences and Economics of the University of Rome La Sapienza. He holds a Ph.D. in Social Statistics at the University of Rome La Sapienza. He is member of various scientific societies. He has been Editor of the international journal Social Indicators Research (ISSN:0303-8300 print version; ISSN:1573-0921 electronic version) and Managing Editor and Session Editor of the International Encyclopedia of Quality of Life and Well-Being Research, edited by Springer, since 2019. In addition, he took part in many international conferences.

  • Venera Tomaselli

    Venera Tomaselli has been a professor of Statistics since 1993. She is currently Associate Professor of Social Statistics at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, University of Catania. She has wide experience in collaboration with research teams. She has also had experience of scientific collaboration as a research fellow at Essex University (UK), as a member of the European Research Group on “Regionalisation of investment in human capital”, coordinated by Munich University. She is referee for some international scientific journals.

  • Rosanna Cataldo

    Rosanna Cataldo is Research Fellow in Social Statistics (SEC-S/05) at the Department of Social Science of University of Naples Federico II. She holds a Ph.D. In Statistics at University of Naples Federico II. She is member of various scientific societies. Her main interests and competence fields are the construction of Social Composite Indicators through Higher Order PLS- Path Modeling, multidimensional data analysis and statistical methods for the study of social media and net communities. Her research is currently focused on gender inequalities, sustainability, quality of life, well-being and poverty. She has a rich profile of publications.

  • Luca Secondi

    Luca Secondi is Associate Professor of Economic Statistics at the University of Tuscia (Viterbo– Italy). Since November 2019 he has been appointed as Rector’s Delegate for national and international rankings. He obtained the PhD in Applied Statistics at the University of Florence and was visiting researcher at the American University (Washington-DC), the Infometrics Institute (Washington D.C.), the Shanxi and Jiangxi universities (China) and the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain).
