Abstract
We have mentioned a number of times in this book that personal disadvantage can occur through intercultural interaction. It can be closely linked to people’s use of language, but it can also involve other issues such as stereotyping and prejudice. In this chapter, we focus directly on such concerns. All of the intercultural competencies we have explored in Chapters 4 and 5 play an important role in this.
Cultural diversity is as necessary for humankind as biodiversity is for nature.
