Abstract
In the twenty-first century, people all over the world are concerned about how to have peace. They are searching outwardly for peace, even though it resides first in one’s inner mind and then manifests in the outer world. Teachers having efficacy for the commitment to peace education develop student knowledge, skills, and dispositions that support that visionary goal. This chapter discusses the actions that have been taken in elementary teacher education in the state Tamilnadu, India, for the advancement of peace. These efforts have been grounded in pragmatism and in conceptions of peace that have framed the actions of the last decade, and they resonate with notions of peace around the world.
