Abstract

Innovative Community-Based Organizations at the Grassroots: Some of the most creative approaches to meeting the needs of marginalized children and young people involve bringing those services to the places where children are hidden. Chapter 6 highlights those innovative community-based organizations that have developed programs to reach those on the margin. These examples are drawn from all over the world, illustrating organizations of various sizes and origins, but all sharing the common bond of developing solutions that are reflective of their particular societies and authored from the ground up. As well, the programs offered by these examples illustrate holistic approaches that cross the boundaries between traditionally siloed issues.
