Abstract
Gerrard posits the idea that the Carry On films, whilst part of a tradition of innuendo, lewdness and double entendres, remain an important part of British film history—and, indeed, British culture—through their knack of being able to be both funny towards and reflective of ideas of Britishness. This conclusion rounds off Gerrard’s arguments and gives an insight into the importance of these low-budget comedies.
