This classification establishes the position of geounits as typological individuals in an ordered genetic grouping of 4 lithologic and structural Divisions, 19 Groups and 32 Sub-groups. Its characterization is explained in Sect. 4, of the User’s Guide to the Atlas and Glossary and its organization is outlined in Sect. 5.
