Abstract

It is shown in this survey that in certain cases it is possible to give inclusion theorems for fixed points if monotonicity principles are applicable. A simple example of a nonlinear integral equation occuring in aerodynamics illustrates in detail how easy it is to apply the monotonicity methods by using the algorithms of approximation and optimization.
