Abstract

Over the past 40 years, laparoscopy has emerged into the latest trend in surgery proving to be safe and effective and in some areas superior to the traditional open surgery. With advancement comes adoption of new technology and training in new techniques. Laparoscopy has advanced from laparoscopic appendectomy and cholecystectomy to bariatric surgery, fundoplication, nephrectomy, anterior resection, and now finally liver surgery.
