Crosslinkable Polyethylene

Abstract

A short overview of practical application of XLPE and materials based on it in various production fields and practical areas of modern society is presented in this chapter; it also covers the particularities of its manufacture and exploitation as well as basic methods of recycling. Thanks to its construction and features of its molecular structure, XLPE is used in the manufacture of easy processable products that sustain the impacts of mechanical, chemical or geographical origin as well as rather high temperatures, without significant changes in strength and performance characteristics. Fundamentally new materials based on XLPE used in construction, medicine and public service have significantly changed the technologies of these industries, insured comfort and a high quality of human life.
