Abstract
In this paper, the bit error rate (BER) performance of a single-channel underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) system for various modulation techniques is evaluated with analytical approach. Operating wavelength of 532 nm is selected, and Si APD is used in the receiver section for the optoelectronic conversion purpose. The BER performance of different modulation techniques for UWOC system is analyzed considering different water types, e.g., pure sea water, clear ocean water, and coastal ocean water. This analysis indicates the best performance for 4-QAM in pure sea water.
