Abstract

Coronary artery disease remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The rupture of vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque, with its vulnerability defined by the propensity for the plaque to rupture, contributes to the majority of acute coronary syndromes and sudden cardiac deaths.
