Abstract

A distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack degrades the performance of routing protocols when it occurs in the network. The ad hoc on demand multipath distance vector (AOMDV) routing protocol follows a multiple path for sending packets from the source to the destination but when an attack occurs in the network it stops sending packets from source to destination and results in performance degradation. In this paper a new protocol is proposed named the enhanced ad hoc on demand multipath distance vector (EAOMDV) routing protocol. It is an enhanced version of AOMDV that overcomes the problems which occur during an attack in AOMDV. In this, a DDOS flooding attack is introduced and the performance is analyzed under different propagation models: TwoRayGround, FreeSpace, and Shadowing. Then the performance of the existing and proposed protocols is measured under various parameters of throughput, packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, and normalized routing load.
