Abstract

We currently face inequitable social structures that require serious change and, according to Paulo Freire (2004), this type of change entails the capacity to imagine a different world. Leona English and Peter Mayo (2012) add that such transformation requires a notion of citizenship that includes a sense of the collective rather than a limited focus on individuals.
