Abstract

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a human rights disaster. Because of it, 12 million people live in perpetual fear – fear of invasion, displacement, or expulsion; fear of bombs and rockets; fear of delegitimation; fear of assassination; fear of governments on both sides that use a constant state of emergency to entrench anti-democratic practices; fear of violence, whether from the “other side” or from rivalries between militias or political groups on their own side; and, most of all, fear of never having a normal life.
